FAQ

1.What products do you use? 
At Complexions we are not loyal to one particular brand. We prefer to use a range of different products from a variety of brands, some brands have better foundations or eyeshadows than others. The brands that feature the most are- Nars, Mac, Laura Mercier, Bobby Brown, Dinair, Kryolan, Artistry

2.Will my makeup last all day?
Yes, your makeup will last, however there are a few tips that we give our brides to help our good work along. At Complexions Artistry, we appreciate our brides for booking us and including us in their special day that as a gift to her, we will leave her with a complimentary touch up kit.
This kit will be small enough to fit in a clutch or given to one of the bridesmaids.
The kit includes every thing the bride would need should she need to “touchup”. The kit includes:

  • Pot of MAC lipstick or gloss colour of your choice, we can even mix customized colours
  • Small pinky powder puff
  • MAC Powder for any shine that may occur
  • Q-tips
  • A few other little treats

3.Are your artists experienced?
It is company policy to only work with artists that have extensive experience not only in makeup but skincare as well, you need a good foundation before your can build a house on top, the same applies for makeup. It is also crucial that the artist understands the science of the skin and what products are suited better to different skin charactertistics as well as understanding colour theory. Bridal makeup is not easy and requires a seasoned professional to perfect it. All of our artists are professionally trained with accredited diplomas and extensive experience. Our artists are continually learning and growing by attending seminars and courses to keep up to date with current trends.

4.What happens if my artist is sick on my wedding day?
It is an extremely rare occurrence, but in the case of an emergency we will replace your artist.

5.Does my makeup have to be thick and cakey?
No, it doesn’t have to be heavy but it does have to be applied properly using the right products for you. A professional makeup artist knows how to bring out your features, even out skin tone and ensure that you look the very best you can be.

6.Do we provide a touch up service?
This is not a service that we usually offer. As we are extremely busy, we simply do not have the time to come back to a bridal party just for touch ups. If you absolutely feel you will need a touch up service this can be arranged through email where an hourly rate will be applied.

7.Is a trial necessary?
A trial is for you to see your artists work prior to the wedding and try any looks you may have in mind. If you are confident and happy to book your wedding straight in that is great.

8.Can I change my booking numbers at a later date?
A reduction in numbers may lead to a cancellation of your booking. An increase in numbers may be possible but is dependent on your artists other appointments for that day. It is therefore best to try and be as accurate as possible when booking.

9.Can I change my booking time?
This is dependent on your artists schedule and may not always be possible to do so at a later stage. Make sure you talk to your photographer before you book in your makeup and hair to be sure you have the timing correct.

10.Is my deposit refundable?
Deposits are not refundable, your deposit will be deducted from your final invoice.

11.Do we do makeup for proms / engagement parties / stagettes / makeovers/ corportate head shots / photoshoots?
